Frequently asked questions

Can I get a CSCS card without knowing English?

The CITB test is in English (no Russian version). But the questions have pictures and simple language. Prepare with a translator — many people pass with basic English.

How much does it cost to become a security guard?

£500–700 for the full package (course + SIA licence + DBS). Security guard salary is £12–18/hour. The investment pays back in 1–2 months of work.

Can I take Food Hygiene online?

Yes. The course and exam are fully online, at your own pace. 2–4 hours. Certificate — PDF immediately after passing.

Do I need a DBS Check to work in a restaurant?

Usually not. DBS is needed for work with children, elderly, vulnerable people. For a restaurant, Food Hygiene is enough. But some big chains (Nando's, McDonald's) ask for a Basic DBS.

Are certificates from my country accepted in the UK?

No. The UK requires UK-accredited certificates (Highfield, CITB, SIA). You will need to get them again. Exception: if you have UK ENIC recognition — some qualifications may be accepted.
