About the operatorRegistration, licence, Taskmaster acquisition
Poultry specialist

RE Recruitment (Companies House 03289148 — Taskmaster Resources Ltd; RE Recruitment is a trading division) is a licensed operator that specialises only in poultry processing. The RE Recruitment brand has been running since 2015. Registered office: 8 Leodis Court, David Street, Leeds LS11 5JJ (Taskmaster group); branches: Cheltenham, Worcester, Hereford.

The company has an active GLAA licence: TASK0002 (Taskmaster Resources group). In October 2022 RE Recruitment became one of the first companies to get a licence to recruit foreign workers for the poultry sector.

In May 2025 RE Recruitment was bought by Taskmaster Resources — a large recruitment group that specialises in temporary staff for the food industry. The deal was confirmed by Staffing Industry Analysts. Operations continue under the RE Recruitment brand. How the acquisition will affect working conditions is not yet known, but Taskmaster has its own infrastructure and experience in food processing, which could improve logistics and worker support.

Before the acquisition RE Recruitment was an independent company founded in 2015. Worker ratings on Indeed are average for the sector (3.4/5, 45 reviews, RE Recruitment Group profile, August 2026). Moving under Taskmaster is a logical step for growth, but workers should watch for possible changes in conditions.

Who it is forRecruitment countries, poultry specifics

RE Recruitment does not recruit from Central Asian countries. Main focus is Eastern Europe: Moldova, Ukraine, Romania. If you are from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan — this operator is probably not for you. Consider HOPS, Pro-Force or AGRI-HR.

Poultry work is indoors (factory), not outdoors. Temperature in the halls is low (2–8°C). Work includes cutting, packing and processing poultry. This is conveyor work with repetitive movements. It is physically hard, but different from berry picking.

What the work isPoultry: cutting, packing, conditions

RE Recruitment places workers on poultry factories. Season: October–December (peak before Christmas — main period for turkey and chicken consumption in the UK).

Type of workDescriptionConditions
ButcheryCutting carcasses on the conveyorCold (2–8°C), knives, protective clothing
PackingPacking finished productsCold, conveyor, repetitive work
ProcessingPreparation, marinating, weighingCold, standing work

Working day: 8–12 hours, often early start (5–6 am). Shifts can be day and night. In the peak period (2–3 weeks before Christmas) hours increase — this is the time of maximum earnings.

Key difference from horticulture: work indoors, stable hours (not weather dependent), but repetitive and cold. Many poultry workers like the predictable schedule compared to farm work.

Health and safety at the factory

Work on a poultry factory has specific risks. The employer must give an induction on the first day. Main safety rules:

  • Protective clothing (gloves, apron, helmet, non-slip shoes) is provided free and must be worn.
  • Work with knives requires special training. Do not start without instruction.
  • Regular breaks are required — at least 20 minutes for a shift of 6+ hours.
  • If you get injured — tell the supervisor immediately. The factory must have a first aider.
  • If conditions are unsafe — report to HSE (hse.gov.uk) or GLAA: 0800 432 0804.

The poultry sector in the UK is regulated by the Food Standards Agency (FSA). Factories have regular inspections. This is an extra level of control compared to open farms.

How to applyApplication process
Free

Application through RE Recruitment is free. The only costs: visa (£340) and flight ticket.

  1. The only channel is email [email protected]. There is no application form on the website any more (the page has been removed), and the operator warns: "due to the high level of interest we cannot respond to individual candidates". The realistic route into poultry is through Pro-Force.
  2. Do an interview — usually online. Questions: readiness to work in cold, dates, motivation.
  3. Get an offer — the operator will assign a factory and dates. Read the contract.
  4. Get a CoS — electronic document for the visa.
  5. Apply for the visa — gov.uk, £340. IHS is not charged.
  6. Give biometrics — decision ~3 weeks.
  7. Buy your ticket after visa approval.

Deadline: the poultry visa must be applied for by 15 November each year; the work window is 2 October–31 December. If someone is "selling an RE Recruitment application form" — it is a scam: the form does not exist.

If anyone asks for money for a place — it is fraud. GLAA: 0800 432 0804.

What workers sayIndeed, Glassdoor, common themes
3.4/5 Indeed

The themes below are based on public reviews on Indeed and Glassdoor for 2022–2026.

Indeed

On Indeed RE Recruitment has a rating of 3.4 out of 5 (45 reviews, RE Recruitment Group profile, August 2026). That is an average rating for the sector. Workers note stable hours and a well-organised process, but part of the reviews are about communication and shift allocation.

Glassdoor

On Glassdoor the rating is 3.6 out of 5 based on 5 ratings. The sample is small, but the overall tone is positive.

Positive themes

Stable working hours (unlike horticulture, where hours depend on weather and harvest). Predictable schedule. Indoor work. Professional organisation at the factories. Good communication with the operator.

Negative themes

Repetitive conveyor work. Cold in the halls (2–8°C) — even with protective clothing it is uncomfortable. Short season (2–3 months) means lower total earnings compared to a 6-month farm contract. Some workers complain about physical strain from cutting.

Overall picture

RE Recruitment has average ratings from worker reviews. Specialisation in poultry means a different type of work: more stable, but more repetitive and colder. Short season is a trade-off: less earnings, but also less time away from home.

What changed after the Taskmaster acquisition

The acquisition happened in May 2025. As of April 2026 there are few public reviews about working under the new owner — the first full poultry season under Taskmaster was October–December 2025. If you worked with RE Recruitment in the 2025/26 season — your experience is especially valuable. You can leave reviews on Indeed or Trustpilot.

How much you earnSalary for the short season
£12.71/hour

The scheme rate in 2026 is the same for every age — £12.71/hour (a sponsor guidance requirement, higher than the ordinary NMW for 18–20 year olds). The poultry season is shorter (2–3 months vs 6 months on a farm), so total earnings are lower.

Net earnings for the poultry season are lower than for 6 months on a farm. Trade-off: less time away from home, stable hours, indoor work.

After the season submit P85 on gov.uk to get a tax refund.

🏠
HousingConditions, cost

Housing is arranged by the operator. Poultry factories are often closer to towns than farms, so housing may be in ordinary houses or hostels, not caravans. Cost: up to £77.70/week (the statutory maximum, accommodation offset).

Check housing conditions before signing the contract: type, cost, distance to the factory, transport.

RE Recruitment is the only operator in this review that works exclusively in poultry. If you want a short season (2–3 months) with stable hours indoors — this is your option. If you want maximum earnings — choose a 6-month contract through a horticulture operator.

🗓️
Season 2027 — what we knowApplications are not open yet

RE Recruitment has not opened applications for the 2027 season yet. The UK government has not announced the quota for 2027, but the scheme itself has been extended to 2029. In past years operators opened applications in autumn or winter, and returning workers got their invitations before new candidates.

What you can do right now: check how long your passport is valid, start saving money for the visa and the flight, get your documents ready, and watch the operator's official website. Any "paid registration for 2027" is a scam — operators do not sell places.
