IAA replaces OISC as immigration adviser regulator
The Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) replaced the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) as the statutory regulator for UK immigration advisers. Three levels of authorisation: Level 1 (basic casework), Level 2 (full advice), Level 3 (advocacy). Existing OISC registrations automatically transferred.
Health & Care Worker visa — overseas applications closed
Overseas applications for the Health & Care Worker visa under SOC codes 6135/6136 (care assistants, home carers) closed on 22 July 2025. In-country switching remains available for those already in the UK on another visa. ILR pathway preserved for existing care workers.
Effective 6 April 2026: National Living Wage for ages 21+ increased from £12.21 to £12.71 (+6.7%). Affects all UK employment including Seasonal Worker, Skilled Worker, and student jobs.
Tax year 2026-27: Personal Allowance remains at £12,570 (fourth consecutive freeze). Basic rate 20% applies up to £50,270; higher rate 40% to £125,140; additional rate 45% above. Employee National Insurance rate 8%.
